Founded in 2002, Gearstick began as a touring Theatre Co-operative of Graduates from the Acting and Design Course at Charles Sturt University, Wagga Wagga. We produce a wide variety of work, including; well-known plays, self-devised pieces, adaptations, kids shows, storytelling and street theatre, with performances in Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne and throughout Regional NSW.
With innovation born of necessity, our shows to date have often seen us using creativity as a substitute for expense, leading us on a road where producing, writing and creting our own work has become a remarkable way for us to develop our skills in all areas of theatre.
With a strong commitment to regional arts, Gearstick Theatre has provided a means for professional development for many graduates from Charles Sturt University - without the necessity of relocating to the major metropolitan areas - and continues to do so, with the ultimate goal of providing professional income for regional artists.
Our mission is to create and present diverse, interesting and unexpected work that engages with audiences and empowers artists in the creative process.
